Larry Smith is a poet, novelist, critic, and the authorized biographer of Kenneth Patchen, Kenneth Patchen: Rebel Poet in America (Small Press Consortium, 2000). His video program, Kenneth Patchen: An Art of Engagement, was produced by the Ohio Humanities Council and is available from Bottom Dog Press. Among his books of poetry, Smith has published Scissors, Paper, Rock (1982), Across These States (1985), and Steel Valley Postcards and Letters (1992). A collection of his short fiction, Beyond Rust, was published in 1995. Smith is editor and publisher of Bottom Dog Press and managing editor of The Heartlands Today. He is professor of English and Humanities at Bowling Green State University’s Firelands College in Huron, Ohio.
