Michael Datcher is a journalist and spoken-word poet with a master’s degree in African-American studies from UCLA. He has written about politics, race,and music for newspapers and magazines, including the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and The Baltimore Sun. His best-selling memoir Raising Fences: A Black Man’s Love Story was published by Riverhead Books in 2001.He teaches at UCLA and lives with his wife Jenoyne Adams in Los Angeles.
