Eavan Boland was born in Dublin in 1944 and lives there with her husband and two daughters. She has published seven volumes of poetry; her poems have appeared in such magazines as The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Kenyon Review, and American Poetry Review. She has taught at Trinity College, University College, and Bowdoin College. Her book of essays, Object Lessons, was published in 1995 by W. W. Norton.
