Alexis Levitin has been translating for thirty-three years, mostly literature from the Portugese. His work has appeared in over two hundred magazines, including American Poetry Review, Kenyon Review, Partisan Review, Prairie Schooner, and New Letters. His books include Clarice Lispector’s Soulstorm and Eugenio d’Andrade’s Forbidden Words, both from New Directions. His twenty-fifth book, Astrid Cabral’s Cage, a collection of Amazonian poetry, was released by Host Publications in July, 2008.
