William Ospina

is a well-known contemporary Colombian journalist and poet. He is the author of seventeen books of poetry and essays and has translated Marguerite Yourcenar, Flaubert, and Shakespeare into . The poems included here, “The Geologist,” and “The Condemned Man on the Pyramid,” are from his collection, The Country of Wind, which won the 1992 Premio Nacional de Poesia del Instituto Colombiano de Cultura.
